Is this jump starter safety listed?

UL 2743 is the safety standard for portable power packs, the category jump starters fall into. A listing is a record in a laboratory's public directory, and you can check it in a few minutes instead of trusting the words "UL certified" on a box.

Brands we did not find

We searched the same directory by brand name for these jump starter brands sold on Amazon and found no UL 2743 record under that name on September 24, 2026:

GOOLOO, WOLFBOX, TOPDON, Fanttik, BRPOM, YaberAuto, AVAPOW, Schumacher.

Check any model yourself

  1. Open the Intertek directory search.
  2. Type the brand name, then search. Also try the model number: some listings sit under the manufacturing company, not the brand.
  3. In the results, look for the title "Portable Power Packs" and the standard "UL-2743" or "ANSI/CAN/UL-2743".
  4. Open the record and find your exact model number in the product information. A listing for one model does not cover the rest of a brand's range.

If the product carries the UL mark rather than ETL, the matching directory is UL Solutions' own, which requires a free account.

What a listing tells you

UL describes UL 2743 as covering devices made of batteries in an enclosure, used as a portable power source, including ones that can jump-start a car (UL's page). It is a safety evaluation. We read a listing as evidence the design was evaluated for safety, not as confirmation of the peak-amp number printed on the box. For that, see peak amps, explained.

Questions people ask

What is UL 2743?

UL 2743 is the UL standard for portable power packs: battery units in an enclosure used as a portable power source, including ones with a booster function to jump-start a car, as UL describes it.

Is ETL the same as UL?

ETL is Intertek's listing mark. Intertek and UL are both testing laboratories, and a product can be ETL listed to a UL standard. NOCO's GB40 data sheet carries the ETL mark, and the Intertek directory lists the GB40 as evaluated to UL 2743.

Does a missing listing mean a jump starter is unsafe?

No. It means we did not find it in the Intertek directory. A product can be listed by another laboratory, such as UL Solutions, whose directory we did not search.
