What the 1,000 A rating covers

The diesel number is the one to watch. If your diesel is larger than 3.0 liters, the next NOCO ratings up are the GBX45 (4.0 L) and the GB70 (6.0 L).

The mark printed on NOCO's own GB40 data sheet is ETL, from Intertek, not UL. The Intertek directory lists the GB40 as evaluated to UL 2743. So the standard is UL's and the laboratory is Intertek, and "ETL listed to UL 2743" is the accurate way to say it.

NOCO's data sheet quotes 20 jump starts per charge and a 3 hour recharge from a 2 amp USB source, 6 hours from 1 amp.

Will a NOCO GB40 start a V8?

NOCO rates the GB40 for gas engines up to 6.0 liters. A gas V8 at or under 6.0 L is inside that rating; above it NOCO rates the GB70 (8.0 L).

How long does the GB40 take to recharge?

NOCO's data sheet lists 12 hours at 0.5 A, 6 hours at 1 A and 3 hours at 2 A over USB.

Is the GB40 UL or ETL listed?

Its data sheet carries the ETL mark. The Intertek directory lists the GB40 as evaluated to UL 2743, the portable power pack standard.
